Dan Speck

Owner/Partner

Dan Speck has spent over 40 years in the mining, materials, and testing industries. His experience ranges from mine site engineering to executive management of a business nearing $1B in revenue with over 3000 employees.

Dan has served on numerous industry boards over the years such as National Ready Mixed Concrete Association, American Coal Council, and as Chairman and Life Director of the Arizona Rock Products Association.

Dan worked for the Kiewit Companies for over 30 years in various executive positions which included developing a top tier construction materials company through growth and acquisition.

Currently, Dan is a Principle in Alta Arizona, which he co-founded with Dan Speck, Dan serves as Managing Partner and Serves on the Board. Since the formation, Alta Arizona has grown to become one of the premier full-service Engineering Firms in the State. Dan responsible for spearheading initiatives to exceed customer expectations, seek out new partnerships. Dan also served as Project Lead for Solid Waste feasibility studies and Landfill development projects.

Prior to forming Alta Arizona, Dan served as Area Vice President for Waste Management, where he held responsibility for all operations in Arizona and New Mexico, averaging $500M annual revenue. Under his guidance, the Division underwent a stunning transformation, where he consolidated multiple roll up companies into a one a highly ranked division and was recognized as the Companies top Division multiple times. Under Dan’s direction WM appeared often on Phoenix Business Journal’s list of Best Companies to Work For.

Dan earned a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Arizona, and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Arizona and California.

Don Loose

Donald Loose RLS

Don Loose is not quite a native Tucsonan but he has lived in the Old Pueblo since the age of five months. Don loves everything related to the Tucson lifestyle with and all of its history and beauty not to mention the fact that he is a diehard Wildcat fan.

Don attended the University of Arizona from 1970-1977. Having grown up in Tucson, he especially finds it rewarding to be able to revisit old friendships from his school days and enjoys remembering how Tucson was back in the 50’s and 60’s. He raised three children in Tucson and is a proud grandfather of five grandchildren, two living in Las Vegas and three living in the Los Angeles area. In 2001, Don and his beautiful wife, MaryAnn, moved to Los Angeles to be closer to their children and the couple have maintained residences in both cities since that time.

Don has been a licensed surveyor in Arizona since August, 1989. He has owned a number of survey companies in both Southern Arizona and Los Angeles, California. Don is an avid outdoors person and among his favorite things to do is to hike trails within any of the mountain ranges surrounding Tucson or ride a bike on the River Walk.

John Marshall

Management Team

John Marshall is a Registered Land Surveyor in the State of Arizona who helps the public build the future and solves complex land related disputes.

Before starting at Alta Arizona, John worked 7 years as the Chief Surveyor at the Arizona Department of Transportation and 3 years as a Project Surveyor at A Team Professional Associates. After a successful career serving the State of Arizona in the mapping department and various home builders and the Army Corps of Engineers in the construction industry, John returned to the commercial sector to solve boundary issues and continue to build Arizona for the future.

John enjoys off road exploring and golfing.

Sean Fabor

Sean Fabor, PE

Geotechnical Principal and Director

Sean has over13 years of experience in the geotechnical, construction material testing and special inspectionindustry. Sean servesas the Principal and Director of all projects for Alta and is responsible for the day to day op- erations of the company. Serving as Engineer of Record for many materials testing projectsoverthe years, Sean’s experience will help guide all of our field staff to ensure materials testing compliance with all applicable specifi- cations including those specific to the City of Phoenix On-Call.

Sean has specific design and engineering experience in the following:

  • Geotechnical foundation design
  • Pavement design
  • Material testing
  • Asphalt, concrete and soil cement mix design
  • Structural special inspection
